 One of Irelands foremost shellfish producers specialise in frozen breaded scampi seeks up to 2 Prawn Peelers for an immediate start. The modern facilities provide a strong focus on quality production. Customer care is a vital part of the company sales philosophy. Your position will be a Prawn Peeler. Duties include peeling the meat out of the scampi shells, cleaning meat and weighing. Successful candidate have to be eligible to work in the UK. , and will be required to complete and pass Hygiene Training Course. Full training provided

WINE

 

Winemaking - Harvest Interns – WA, OR, CA.  (Most placements are 3-4 months, but 12-month placements also possible)  Both Washington and Oregon have increased in wine notoriety in the past decade and now produce some of the world’s best Pinot Noir, Merlot and Riesling wines.  Experience International works with both small and large wineries throughout the Pacific Northwest and California.  Our wineries and winemakers are well-established in their craft.  Placements are available in the Willamette Valley of Oregon and Yakima Valley, Washington. California placements may be available upon request.  Wage provided and some placements provide housing. 

 

AGRICULTURAL PLACEMENTS

 

Goat Dairy (12 months – Maine)  A family goat dairy with a herd of 125 goats provides a hands-on opportunity to develop skills in animal health and nutrition, kidding, milk production, cheesemaking, and equipment operation and maintenance.  Farm produces award-winning chevre and feta cheeses.  Housing, stipend, and cultural opportunities provided. Winters are cold!

 

Custom Harvesting Operation (1 placement, September through December – North Dakota)  Harvest grains, legumes and other land intensive crops while working on a family farm.  This position requires knowledge of heavy machinery and tractors, and a commitment to the harvest season.  Minimum till and no-till farming practices are used, along with seven center pivot irrigation systems.

 

Dairy Cattle Production (2 placements, 12 months) Learn everything about dairy production from milking, breeding, feeding and farm business management.  Placement is on a small family farm.  Housing and stipend provided.

 

Swine Breeding and Production (12 months, Iowa, Illinois, or Minnesota)  For trainees with interest and previous experience in pig production.  Trainees will have an opportunity to gain on farm experience in all areas including: farrowing, weaning, nursery, grow/finish, breeding, supervision and others. Stipend and housing provided, or hourly wage provided.

 

 

HORTICULTURAL PLACEMENTS

 

Ornamental Tree/Shrub Nursery (12-months, Oregon) Hands-on training in production, propagation, pest management, shipping and all activities associated with wholesale growers of ornamental trees and shrubs. Training will supplement previous education and practical experience.  Housing and wage provided in most cases.

 

Retail Garden Center  (6-18 months)  Excellent placement for those interested in a career in garden retail.  The host is a high-quality garden center with a knowledgeable staff offering gardening advice, quality plants, landscaping supplies and garden accessories.  Trainees will focus on customer service, horticultural and retail business skills.  Candidates must possess a high degree of professionalism, excellent English and customer service skills.  Hourly wage provided.

 

Golf Course Maintenance and Turf Management  (6-18 months, Pacific Northwest).  Several opportunities available to train on a professional, U.S. golf course.  Learn  maintenance, construction, and turf management.  Includes training in turf grass science, pest management, environmental compliance, business and personnel management, water and irrigation technologies, and equipment maintenance and repair.  Hourly wage provided.  Some placements provide housing.

 

 

NATURAL RESOURCE PLACEMENTS

 

U.S. Forest Service Geographic Information System (GIS) and Data Analysis for Natural Resource Management Projects  (12-18 months, Plumas National Forest, California)  This placement is for someone with experience collecting and mapping vegetation data, analyzing data sets, working with GIS databases, and producing GIS maps.  Live and work in the breathtaking Sierra Nevada mountain range of California.  Experience an innovative land management program that includes public grass-roots organizations working alongside public agency professionals.  This Forest is unique and serves as a national model for collaborative land management.  Housing and stipend provided.  Don’t miss this one!

PRODUCTION OPERATIVE

Seasonal staff until October.  The Nursery produce fresh cut Herbs and a wide range of other salad crops for Wholesalers and Food Processors. From March to October the crops are grown on site and during the winter months the climate does not allow them to grow any crops and they have to be imported. The work is varied with different tasks being carried out from one day to the next. As a production operative they require you to work both in a team and sometimes on your own.  The work will be a mixture of both Growing and Harvesting operations.

Vegetable producer in Northern Ireland requires two Vegetable Production Workers.  The farm grows mainly potatoes, which are sold locally or prepared in the packhouse.  Other vegetables grown are cabbage, Savoy's, broccoli and etc.  Your duties will include harvesting crops in fields, grading , peeling and packing of potatoes and vegetables.

DAIRY FARM TECHNICHIAN

The  farm has a pedigree dairy heard of approx 55 cows and their followers which on occasions are shown.  All bull calves are reared for breeding or finished for beef.   The cows are fed with concentrates twice a day at milking time. Silage is used as their main forage.  They also rear approx 1000 Turkeys for Christmas and a few for Easter – additional help is employed for this to assist with plucking and butchers are hired to clean out.  They also rear 2 – 2500 poultry to the age of 4 – 6 weeks for sale.
